Kelsey Guckenberger

Born, raised and baptized at Christ Community Church, Kelsey is delighted to be back in this fellowship again, this time as pastor. Kelsey has a Religious Studies degree from Westmont College and a Masters in Divinity from Duke Divinity School. She is passionate about preaching from the Old Testament, cultivating spiritual practices as an embodied way of following Jesus, and caring for Creation. Kelsey along with her husband and co-pastor Jacob live close to the church where they enjoy gardening, biking, talking theology, cooking, and caring for their 4 chickens.

Originally an Oregon native, Jacob has been drawn to the Midwest to join Kelsey as a co-pastor at Christ Community Church. Jacob attended George Fox University and has a Masters in Higher Education from the University of Portland as well as a Masters in Theological Studies from Duke Divinity School. Jacob loves to bake bread, practice the way of Jesus by hosting folks for dinner and spend time in God’s good creation.

Over the last few years, Jacob and Kelsey have been doing ministry together in many different ways including: working with college students, doing life with folks with and without disabilities at L'Arche Portland, and serving churches and ministries in North Carolina. They are full of joy and hope as they continue the adventure that is the Christian life as a part of the Body at Christ Community Church.
